Overview

 

You will be responsible for the day-to-day finance aspects of the college, managing month end procedures which includes updating budgets, whilst also supervising the Finance Assistant for supplier invoicing/queries and providing cover for this.

 

Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

 

·      Sales Billing

·      Credit Control

·      Refunding fees and deposits

·      Processing supplier invoices

·      Reconciling accounts for month end

·      Reconciling agents commission

·      Keeping petty cash records

·      Managing funds paid to charities

·      Managing the Finance Assistant

In addition to the finance department, there may be occasions where the role is called up on to help with other admin functions within the colleges

 

Qualifications and Experience

You will hold A Level’s or equivalent qualification or experience, be competent in the use of ICT, particularly the use of Excel and Databases.

Ideally you will have a professional an Accounting qualification or a relevant degree.

You will have good working knowledge of Billing and Credit Control, excellent numeracy and analytical problem solving ability, excellent verbal and written English and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Previous experience working in an education environment is desirable.

Checks and Training

• Enhanced DBS checks to ascertain successful candidates suitability to work with children will be carried out. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and therefore all convictions, cautions and bindovers, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared.

• Online searches will be carried out on candidates for any unsuitable content by or about candidates.

• Two written & verbal references from previous employers and a personal reference will be sought. Referees will be asked about candidates suitability to work with children and whether they know of any disciplinary offences relating to children or young persons and whether candidates have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and if so the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure.

• Candidates full employment history will be checked, any significant gaps will require explanation and proof of any relevant qualifications will need to be provided.

• Successful candidates will be required to complete Child Protection Training via e-learning prior to commencing employment.

• Pre-employment health screening will also be carried out.
