Position Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Head of Curriculum & Assessment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Deputy Head Teacher for Learning and Teaching, Deputy Head Teacher of Curriculum and Assessment, and Principal to drive the improvement of the school by providing strategic leadership in all aspects linked to curriculum, assessment, and the integration of educational technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving the improvement of the school by providing strategic leadership of all aspects linked to curriculum, assessment, and the integration of educational technology.
- Develop and embed innovative pedagogical approaches, incorporating technology to inspire all students and raise standards, including for SEND, Gifted and Talented, and Emirati students.
- Monitoring and quality assurance of assessment practice and curriculum design to accelerate student performance.
- Develop and deliver an effective professional development programme tailored to the specific needs of staff and targeted areas for whole school development, including the development of middle leaders.
- Ensuring student learning is at the centre of strategic planning and resource management, leading to the highest possible academic outcomes for all.
- Playing a key role in School Self-Evaluation ensuring agreed actions are effective, timely and positively impacting on student outcomes.
- Collaborate with Curriculum Leaders to establish robust targets and Annual Action Plans that improve student outcomes, supported by effective use of technology.
- Sharing the responsibility for the management of the school and contributing to the consultative and decision-making processes.
Successful candidates will need to:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Honors degree and/or post-graduate qualification.
- Evidence of ongoing personal professional development as both a teacher and/or leader.
- At least 3 years’ experience of middle/senior leadership with a curriculum/L&T element.
- Experience in leading Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to situations and manage professional relationships.
- A clear drive and motivation for all students to achieve and exceed their potential.

GEMS Wellington International School, a mixed private school for children aged 3-18, is situated in the Al Sufouh area of Dubai and is owned and run by GEMS Education. Student numbers are over 2,800, around half of whom are British.
The school was established in 2005 and offers the National Curriculum of England from Foundation Stage to Year 11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, courses and careers programme in Years 12 and 13.
