Job overview

We are looking for an outstanding, passionate and caring professional to join our team who put children’s well-being at the heart of everything.

Our vision is 'Preparing our COMMUNITY for a SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL FUTURE’. This is a genuine vision that applies to all members of the community. To be appointed you will be committed to working in a progressive, supportive and forward-thinking environment. The ability to work collaboratively in a large and vibrant school is essential. We want people who are enthusiastic about their own professional development, who are solution oriented and who share our vision.

This role involves leading a team of University Guidance Counsellors and building our connections with Universities and external stakeholders. We want our UGC team to work effectively with all stakeholders of our school to educate and guide students and their families about the pathways possible for them in education and the world of work. We strongly believe in a “best fit” model and are extremely proud of each and every member of our alumni.

We are a British curriculum school in an international context and offer GCSE, IGCSE, AS, A Level, IAS and International A Level courses as well as some Level 3 BTEC qualifications. As such, experience and understanding of the University application process in a diverse international school is highly desirable. Our next Head of Higher Education & Universities will manage a caseload themselves and lead the department to ensure our graduates are truly prepared for life beyond Bangkok Prep. Knowledge and experience of the Thailand TCAS system is advantageous. As is the ability to speak multiple languages. However, national experience and multilingual skills are not essential for a values based leader who wants the very best for every young person and their team.

This person will work with our academic and pastoral team, supported by a new role for Bangkok Prep called “Head of Future Pathways”. They will also work closely with the Assistant Headteacher - Curriculum and the Head of Sixth Form. In addition, this person will work with admissions and marketing to lead communications and to celebrate and make use of our expanding alumni group. We hope they will be active in providing a wide range of opportunities for all our students through links in a local, national and a global network.

This is a key position in an expanding team at Bangkok Prep and one with exciting opportunities and potential to have a high level of impact on all our wonderful students.

Last year we celebrated our 20th anniversary year with over 220 students in our Sixth Form. We continue to welcome more students to an amazing community of people in a wonderful learning environment. We want a visionary and dedicated team member to help us continue to develop our provision both in and out of lessons.

To apply, please complete the TES application form by clicking 'Quick Apply'. Please also upload an up-to-date CV. You may also wish to submit a supporting statement which demonstrates how you meet the person specification. This should be no more than one page and help to provide evidence for our shortlisting team.

Bangkok Prep is committed to the safeguarding of children and all applicants will undergo thorough background checks. Appointment is subject to successfully obtaining an International Child Protection Certificate (if the candidate has lived in the UK) and equivalent background checks for all other countries inhabited (irrespective of whether you have worked in these countries).

Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School (Bangkok Prep) is committed to the prevention of Child Abuse and to the Safeguarding and protection of children. This commitment means that the interests and welfare of children are our prime consideration when any decision is made about suspected cases of abuse or neglect. The procedures outlined in this policy are in line with the Child Protection Act of Thailand and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The policy also draws upon relevant guidance from the United Kingdom, including: Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Guidance for Safer Working Practice for Those Working with Children and Young People in Education Settings

Early applications are encouraged and the school reserves the right to appoint before the closing date.

About Bangkok Prep International School, Secondary Campus

Preparing our COMMUNITY for a SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL FUTURE

Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School provides a nurturing and engaging environment for students  aged from 3-18. We pride ourselves on providing an inclusive and intercultural environment for our students. We are accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and are a member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA).

Our children can stay with Bangkok Prep for their entire educational journey, from their first days in Nursery, through to Secondary, where our students go on to take I/GCSEs and A Levels or BTECs in Key Stages 4 and 5 respectively.

Our school campus houses both Primary and Secondary, and features a host of facilities including two indoor sports complexes, 25m and 50m swimming pools, tennis courts, an indoor climbing wall, a recital hall, a whole school auditorium, dance and drama studios, a CAD/CAM suite, Mac suites, and a stunning Sixth Form Centre. We also have an amazing Forest Campus which allows the students the opportunity to learn in a natural environment deep in the heart of Bangkok!

We believe very much in the Vision of the school being the centre of all that we do, and there are four elements which we feel are the cornerstone of our Community Vision:

We develop and invest in our COMMUNITY

As well as providing a first-class education for our students, our support extends to the whole Bangkok Prep Community. We value our home school partnerships and facilitate many Parent Workshops and Community Events throughout the year. We have fantastic support from our parent group, the Friends of Bangkok Prep (FOBP) and we work closely to provide wonderful events for the whole community, such as our Winter Fair, our Forest Campus Barbecues and intercultural celebrations.

We are also fundamentally committed to developing our staff. We have our own, custom designed, Developing Professional Capacity (DPC) Process which is designed to really support our staff to develop their professional practice, providing the best possible experience for our students. We provide opportunities for internal and external Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and also provide opportunities for globally recognised qualifications, such as NPQs and Forest School Training.

We are SUSTAINABLE

Our commitment to sustainability also goes beyond the staples of environmental education. As a school who are now celebrating our 20th Year of operation and sustainability extends to every part of what we do. We are the first school in Thailand to be awarded the prestigious Green Flag award for our work on sustainability. Our Primary and Secondary student-led ECO teams continue to drive our commitment forward and develop the use of our amazing Forest Campus! Our commitment to the environment is only one of our ‘pillars of sustainability’. Our other pillars are Education, Wellbeing for All and Leadership for the Future. We offer a huge range of student leadership opportunities throughout the school and we encourage all of our students to be BRAVE, PROACTIVE and AMBITIOUS leaders, embodying our Bangkok Prep Values.

We maintain a GLOBAL focus

Being GLOBALLY MINDED is one of our Bangkok Prep Values. Our School Community contains almost 60 nationalities and speaks over 30 different languages. We pride ourselves on providing our students with the necessary intercultural competencies to thrive in an increasingly global community.  Whilst we follow the National Curriculum, it is adapted to embody our value of being GLOBALLY MINDED, it provides a fantastic education for our students, beginning with our amazing Thematic Curriculum in Primary which is designed to engage and excite our students, whilst still providing the academic rigour of the National Curriculum. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are interwoven throughout the student’s learning and each of our year groups engage in Service Projects linked to their specific themes. Once their journey through Primary is complete, our focus on holistic education in Secondary remains a priority. Through developing the whole child, with wellbeing placed at the heart of everything we do, our caring, supportive community culture, forms the basis of our teaching and learning philosophy. This includes an extensive extra curricular programme with sport, STEAM and the creative arts playing a huge role. There is a strong emphasis on personalised learning and pathways until our students graduate.

We plan for the FUTURE

As our students near the end of Key Stage 3, our options process begins through personalised support and guidance. Our aim is that every student has their own bespoke pathway that is best suited to their needs and future aspirations throughout their examination years. Our Secondary examined curriculum includes IGCSE, BTEC and A Level. At Prep we believe learning goes further than exams and we prepare our students for the future ahead through our enhanced curriculum programme, which is designed to ensure our students are fully equipped to make decisions and deal with the challenges which life after Prep provides. These include one-to-one university guidance counselling, social emotional counselling and an Enrichment, Futures and Wellbeing Curriculum in Key Stage 5. Once our students leave Bangkok Prep they still remain a part of our community through the alumni network, and we ensure they are ready and prepared for a global sustainable future.

Our Vision

Preparing our COMMUNITY for a SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL FUTURE

Our Mission

At Bangkok Prep we will ensure that:

  • learners will reach their full potential both academically and in preparation for life beyond Bangkok Prep;
  • we will provide an enriched curriculum in which innovation, sustainability, creativity and health are highlighted;
  • we will inspire students to achieve their best through collaborative learning in a safe and enjoyable learning environment;
  • we will develop globally minded, passionate learners who uphold the Bangkok Prep Life Values of being honest, holding high moral standards and having integrity and empathy towards others.

Our Values

The Bangkok Prep Values have recently been refreshed to coincide with our 20th Anniversary. The new set was devised after consulting our community of staff, students and parents, leading to a refreshed set of values we feel accurately represent the community. Throughout the year we focus on a “Value of the Month”; this involves a monthly focus on each 11 values. Each Value reflects a core value that the school believes will assist our students to become positive, involved and caring children who aspire to be the best that they can be, both socially and academically.
