Salary:           United Learning Teacher Payscale plus TLR (dependent on experience)

Reporting to: Assistant Principal

The Role:

We are looking for a candidate that can teach Spanish and French. Who can contribute to the overall leadership of Irlam and Cadishead Academy. You will provide professional leadership and management to the Modern Foreign Languages department in order to secure high quality teaching, the effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement of all students.

Main responsibilities:

  • Make outstanding academic progress in Modern Foreign Languages through outstanding teaching and effective intervention and catch-up strategies.
  • Engage and promote MFL in the wider academy through language days, assemblies and promoting the importance of languages in careers.
  • Revise and develop the MFL curriculum collaboratively with the team across the Academy.  
  • Reward students for their hard work throughout the year and increase their love for MFL through promoting the subject whole school.
  • Ensure the wider curriculum for MFL provides a variety of opportunities for students
  • Establish short, medium and long-term plans for the development and resourcing of MFL through thorough and honest self-evaluation. 
  • Monitor the progress of students and establish intervention strategies as required. 
  • Ensure that subject staff understand and make effective use of data to track student performance in order to raise their attainment.
  • Lead by example and provide motivation and direction for the whole team.
  • Plan, delegate and evaluate work carried out by members of the MFL department.
  • Develop the leadership attributes and qualities of members of the MFL team
