About the Role:
Leadership/Management Responsibilities:
- To grow the pupil roll in line with targets set by the Governing Board, ensuring the school continues to attract and retain pupils whose profile aligns with the values and ethos of the school and Brighton College UK.
- To recruit and retain highly committed staff to the Leadership Team, who will work to drive the school forwards.
- To recruit and retain high quality staff who will lead on delivering best practice, innovative teaching and learning.
- To line manage the Prep Senior management Team and Prep staff., taking responsibility for the effective performance of teachers and teaching assistants, including overseeing their induction, probation, appraisal and professional development.
- To collaborate with and report to the Head of the College on Prep School management and improvement.
- To ensure the Prep School has a clear educational vision, incorporating academic excellent, a service ethos and inter-cultural understanding, which fully reflect the aims and vision of a Brighton College school.
- To ensure the Prep School continues to have strong strategic and operating frameworks that enable sustained growth and high performance., including excellent academic and pastoral provision in the context of its mission, ideals and ethos.
- To line manage and ensure a rigorous process for regular assessment, recording and reporting where data is used to inform teaching and learning strategies and effective intervention approaches are used to improve pupil progress and achievement.
- To ensure that a relevant and sustained programme of inclusion is actioned for all pupils, including robust identification of, and response to, individual needs linked to AEN, EAL and GAT pupils.
- To ensure that children from Year 1 through to Year 6 have access to a broad co-curricular and enrichment programme.
- To work with the Head of Admissions and Head of Marketing on all Prep matters relating to admissions, marketing and advertising activity.
- To oversee the Prep’s preparation for inspections by both local and international bodies to ensure the very highest standards are achieved and retained.
- To establish and maintain links and regular contact with professional bodies both locally and internationally.
- To maintain strong partnerships with Brighton College UK and other Brighton College schools within the network.
- To support the wider school body with whole school events and to enhance the quality of the College’s operational effectiveness by contributing to the performance of the College Leadership Team.
- To meet with prospective and current parents as and whenever necessary.
- To contribute to the whole-school culture of effective pastoral care and rigorous safeguarding.
- Any other reasonable management request.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
- An Honours degree or equivalent.
- An expert educator with significant leadership experience in the Prep/Primary sector.
- A record of continual professional development.
- An ability to demonstrate an excellent record as a middle and senior leader, with evidence of providing support and guidance to staff in all matters associated with specific responsibilities.
- First-class communication skills with a demonstrable ability to act as an effective and compelling ambassador for the College.
- A demonstrable appetite for educational innovation and a broad knowledge of the rapidly changing sector internationally.
- High levels of emotional intelligence.
- A cultural sensitivity and global perspective, relating well to people at all levels and from a diversity of backgrounds.
- Knowledge of strategies to raise standards of attainment for a different groups of learners.
- Excellent organisational, IT and administrative skills.
- Proven ability to monitor and evaluate teams and individuals.
- Ability to think strategically and to contribute to the development of the College.
