Role overview:
The Programme Delivery team delivers Tes Institute’s Teacher Training, Teacher Assistant Training and Professional Development programmes across the UK and internationally, both online and in-person.
The Head of Programme Delivery role has strategic and operational responsibility for programme intent and implementation, The role reports to the Director of Programme Delivery working alongside the central Academic Services and wider Tes team.
You will have a strong understanding of the variety of training and development routes into and within teaching and provide expertise in your assigned programme to oversee and deliver a programme that provides the best experience for our learners. Led by the Director of Programme Delivery, and supported by the Central Academic Services team, you will work collaboratively with your fellow Heads and Managers of Programme Delivery, to meet programme requirements within and across Institute.
You will advocate Tes’ organisational values, model high expectations in the quality of teacher training, and continue to develop academic delivery within your assigned programme. You will provide a high level of expertise in your programme, ensuring leadership and accountability, so that staff and learners have the right resources to ensure effective learner progress, passion for life–long learning and career development, with the skills to positively influence our community and society
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the strategic and operational delivery of outstanding teacher training and development education for your assigned programme.
- Where appropriate, effectively manage Programme Delivery managers in your team, ensuring an unwavering focus on high-quality, compliant delivery and outcomes within each programme.
- Allocation of resources, including team members and Pathway Tutors to facilitate effective, high quality programme delivery and growth.
- The quality of and fidelity of delivery to the programme intent.
- Driving continuous improvement to ensure that our delivery is constantly improving.
- Quality assurance of programme delivery and use of the outcomes from QA to feed into improvements; design of training for Programme Delivery managers and Pathway Tutors to enable high quality delivery and personal growth and development.
- Programme governance, meeting statutory duties, preparation for inspection and reporting to outside bodies.
- Represent our programmes externally with key stakeholders, such as the DfE, and other delivery partners.
- Responsibility for trainee progress, activity, satisfaction and completion of the programme.
- Responsibility for Pathway Tutor oversight, with Programme manager support for key programmes.
- Responsibility for secure and consistent delivery of the programme in every context and setting.
- Work alongside the central Academic Services team to apply their expertise and embed through your programme’s delivery.
- Collaborate with the central Academic Services to enable strong programme direction, design and growth.
- Work closely and collaborate with wider Tes functions to ensure strong operational and compliant delivery at all stages and that activity is optimised.
- Support Sales and Marketing activity in learner recruitment, managing relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
- Report to the Director of Programme Delivery ensuring that your programme’s outcomes meet expectations in retention and engagement.
What will you need to succeed?
Required
- Teaching qualification (QTS) or equivalent.
- For programmes resulting in postgraduate certification (MA, iPGCE, PGCE), an MA or PhD qualification is required.
- Experience of successfully delivering and managing teacher training and development programmes. You can use this experience and other data to inform strategic decision making for your team and programme.
- Sound understanding of ongoing developments in teacher training education, notably Apprenticeships and ITTECF reform.
- Sound understanding of routes into teaching and professional development beyond initial teacher training.
- To be commercially astute and solutions focused.
- Show that you’re proactive and innovative, collaborating with team members in other disciplines, whilst also with the ability to work flexibly and independently.
- Demonstrate experience in the management of educational programme delivery via a blended method.
- Be people focused with high emotional intelligence.
- Showcase effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Desireable
- NPQLTD, NPQH, NPQEL or appropriate Masters or PhD qualification.
- Proven experience of managing and developing teams, inclusive of coaching and influencing staff to deliver innovative ways of working.
- Prior experience of leadership through external inspection by regulatory bodies such as Ofsted.
