This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Psychology teacher to lead the department at Sir Harry Smith Community College. The school has a strong ethos in well-being and creating a sense of belonging for all our students. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and enthusiastic qualified teacher (holding QTS or equivalent and relevant degree) to lead our talented and experienced Psychology department.

The successful candidate will lead and teach Psychology across key stage 3, 4 and 5. They will be creative, innovative, efficient, and committed to improving outcomes for all students. The idea candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and lead a team of superbly collaborative teachers who are committed to a progressive and stimulating approach to teaching and learning and instilling a passion for these vital subjects in our students.

Sir Harry Smith Community College is an 11-18 Academy, proud of its traditional values and   innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning and its standards of discipline and respect It is a calm and safe place, where staff and students work hard, achieve a great deal and enjoy excellent working relationships. The College serves the market town of Whittlesey, seven miles outside of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. The College is part of the Aspire Learning Trust working together with Park Lane and New Road Primary Schools, also in Whittlesey, to help every child achieve their full potential, to prepare them for their next educational steps, to teach them kindness and respect for all and to equip them to play a full satisfying role in society.

Sir Harry Smith Community College is a mixed academy secondary school and Sixth Form for students aged 11-18.

The school was opened in 1953 on the site of Whittlesey Workhouse and is named after the Army General Sir Harry Smith who was born nearby.  The school converted to academy status in 2012 and is part of the Aspire Learning Trust along with local primary schools, Park Lane and New Road.
