Overview

The Head of Psychology at our school will lead the delivery of high-quality Psychology education at Key Stage 5, fostering a stimulating and supportive learning environment. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, ensuring students develop a deep understanding of psychological concepts, theories, and research methods.

The Head of Psychology will also oversee curriculum development, monitor student progress, and support their academic success, while collaborating with colleagues to promote the subject’s growth within the school. This position requires strong leadership, excellent subject knowledge, and a commitment to inspiring students’ passion for Psychology.

The role will include but not be limited to the following responsibilities and duties:

Responsibilities

You will ensure smooth and efficient running of your department and contribute positive leadership in the department and the school as a whole.

You will need to combine academic and skill-based leadership with effective administration and inspire and motivate a team of subject specialists through your passion for the subject.

General Duties


Organise extra-curricular clubs and activities, and coordinate extension sessions for university-bound students

Oversee academic monitoring, including addressing student concerns and analysing exam results

Lead weekly departmental meetings and ensure effective communication

Stay updated with curriculum and digital learning trends, promoting online platforms and mobile technology in teaching.

Develop and maintain a detailed curriculum tailored to each year group's needs and abilities.

Founded in 1875, Haberdashers’ Girls’ School, Elstree is a leading independent day school for girls aged 4–18. The School’s academic results place it amongst the highest-ranked schools in the UK.
