Ofsted reported that 'Pupils blossom in this unique and caring school. Everyone is welcome and staff and pupils care for and look out for each other. Classrooms are places where teachers teach, and pupils learn.

In February 2024, the Catholic Schools Inspectorate graded the school Good with outstanding Catholic ethos and outstanding Religious Education. The CSI report stated 'The mission statement and values are central to the school’s life. Students demonstrate a deep sense of belonging to this welcoming, friendly community. They feel safe, behave exceptionally well, and appreciate all the school offers.

St John Wall Catholic School has a distinctive Catholic ethos that it hopes will support deep personal faith but also welcomes diversity and differences in beliefs and culture. The school prides itself on having what it claims to be a dedicated teaching and support staff that monitor and challenge students to achieve their maximum potential.

The school claims to have a learning environment which is modern, well-equipped, resourceful and regularly updated. Student safety is seen as paramount to its existence. It aims to foster academic achievement levels that provide pupils with the opportunity to experience higher education at well regarded institutions as well as allowing legitimate pathways into training, apprenticeships, and other further education outlets. Also on offer are opportunities to travel, observe different lifestyles and cultures, take up new activities and sports, participate in local and national competitions, and develop effective communication skills.
