The Headmaster of The Hall invites applications for the role of Head of the Junior School from September 2025 following the appointment of Kevin Dobson to the headship of Grimsdell, Mill Hill Pre-Prep School.
Founded in 1889, The Hall is a leading independent preparatory day school for boys aged 4 to 13. Whilst renowned for its academic achievements, with results placing it amongst the highest-ranked prep schools in London and the UK, The Hall has also developed an excellent reputation for its nurturing pastoral care and its breadth of curriculum. The Junior School at The Hall educates over 200 boys aged 4 to 7 across two well-resourced buildings in Belsize Park, a short distance from the Middle and Senior School sites. The Junior School provides strong foundations upon which boys at The Hall develop a lifelong love of learning and are expertly prepared for their future education and beyond.
The Head of the Junior School is responsible to the Headmaster for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Junior School whilst also making a significant contribution to the strategic development of the school as a whole. The Head of the Junior School will build upon significant existing successes to ensure the Junior School remains a distinctive and exciting feature of The Hall and the wider pre-preparatory market in London and further afield.
The Head of the Junior School will be an inspirational, confident and energetic leader who can direct and develop the Junior School. The successful candidate will make a major contribution to the Senior Leadership Team, be a strategic thinker and lead change while displaying a strong understanding of the values of the school. A commitment to the school’s ethos of high academic standards and expectations, innovative teaching methodologies, individual attention and high level of pastoral care is essential. The Head of the Junior School will be a confident and effective communicator.
