Job overview

The Haberdashers’ West Midlands Academies Trust (HWMAT) is a growing and aspirational school trust currently supporting two secondary schools and an independent preparatory school in Newport and Telford. HWMAT’s vision is to develop into a significant and highly regarded group of schools based around these geographic hubs and providing outstanding opportunities that will help students in the local area to realise their full potential.

The Trust harnesses the educational expertise offered by its sponsor, The Haberdashers’ Company, which operates eighteen schools, in four devolved groups – Haberdashers’ Academy Trust South, Haberdashers’ West Midlands Academies Trust, Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools and Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools.

HWMAT now seeks an inspiring Headteacher to lead Haberdashers’ Adams Grammar School, a 400-year old selective state day/boarding school in the heart of Shropshire. The appointee will shape the evolution of the school as it embeds its new co-ed status, as well as continuing the nationally-recognised work in the field of social mobility.

Please see the attached comprehensive appointment pack for further details on the post, duties and responsibilities.

Should you wish to come and visit us for a tour and an informal discussion, please contact the H.R. Manager Mrs. Rachel Back, on 01952 953821 or rachel.back@adamsgs.uk

The deadline for applications is 9am Monday 7th October 2024.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 12th November 2024, with successful candidates being invited back on Wednesday 13th November 2024.
