Job overview
We are looking to appoint an HLTA/Cover Supervisor to join our diverse and dynamic Science department who is passionate about working with young people and inspiring the next generation of scientists.
The Science Department at Ashmole Academy has a well-established collaborative team, who are committed to fostering a curiosity in our students for science in the world around us. Our science curriculum encourages students to think like scientists whilst developing their knowledge and skills as we seek to inspire the next generation of science specialists. In 2024, at GCSE more than two thirds of our separate science students achieved at least a Grade 8, and approximately 30% achieved a Grade 9.
The successful candidate may have a Science related degree or background; will have a passion to inspire and maintain high quality teaching and learning and have a flexible approach to their job role. This may be suitable for candidates who are considering a career in teaching and the School Direct Programme.

- Extensive professional development to ensure high quality mentoring through INSET days, themed whole school meetings, support in completing national professional qualifications and departmental meetings with a focus on training.
- A focus on wellbeing led by a staff wellbeing committee, promoting activities such as golden week, subsidised yoga and staff social activities.
- Flexible working opportunities at a family friendly school, which includes a Primary School on site.
