The Role
To act as a first point of contact for HR queries, provide staff support and ensure efficient administration, organisation and monitoring of key HR processes.
Department information
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised individual for this HR Officer role. The role is a new addition, created to support the growth of our dynamic and friendly team comprising the HR Manager, Deputy HR Manager, Payroll and Finance Officer, and working alongside our existing HR Officer.
We are looking for someone with exceptional administrative and organisational skills, a keen eye for accuracy, and a proactive approach to their work. You will enjoy taking initiative, seeking out opportunities to improve processes, and offering support where needed to help the team achieve its goals.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- Act as a key point of contact for HR-related queries, providing accurate advice and support to staff, and escalating to the HR Manager or Deputy HR Manager when necessary.
- Support all aspects of staff recruitment, from advertisement to pre-employment checks, ensuring a proactive approach to reducing time-to-hire, compliance with safer recruitment guidelines, and providing regular updates to managers on onboarding progress.
- Accurately manage and deliver all HR administrative processes, including maintaining the HR database, staff files, and staff hub.
- To monitor and report on key data including but not limited to monthly absence data, turnover, induction feedback, salary benchmarking etc. as requested by relevant managers and SLT, providing advice and commentary where appropriate.
- Assist with lower-level casework.
- Take a proactive approach to managing staff absence, including daily monitoring of triggers and producing the daily absence report, tracking long-term sickness cases and entitlements, and maintaining accurate records of employees under absence monitoring procedures.

The Successful Candidate
Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for a enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our friendly and well established HR department.
The HR department is looking for someone who is educated to level 3, has experience in an administrative role as well the ability to work flexibly in line with competing demands.
You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Terms and Conditions
Hours: 37 hours per week, full year. Starting and finishing times as agreed. Part time requests will be considered.
Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at points 10 to 14 - pro rata to £25,276 to £28,549 per annum.
