Job Title:        Humanities Lead

Location:      Bankside School, Worcester

Salary:        £25,000 per annum

Hours:         37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm

Contract:      Permanent, Term Time only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Humanities Lead to join our close-knit team at Bankside School located in Worcester.

About the role

We are looking for a creative Humanities Teacher who has the skills to push standards to improve and give students the tools to achieve their best in Humanities, by preparing and delivering well-structured, inclusive lessons. 

The ability to make an outstanding contribution to the development of this core subject is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics in the right applicant. We are looking for a special individual who is able to help re-engage the young people that we serve. Experience in working with pupils who have social, emotional and mental health related difficulties is an advantage. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment. 

Key Result Areas

  • Plan, implement, review and develop the Humanities curriculum to ensure provision is responsive to individual learning needs, reflects national standards and legal requirements. Ensure a balanced curricular approach that will encourage and reward participation in learning through achievement and progression.
  • Develop and organise teaching and other support staff to ensure the effective delivery of the Humanities curriculum. Promote and ensure pupil support and the achievement of high professional and teaching standards. 
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of learning in Humanities and support provision based on an annual planning cycle with clear objectives and targets and a quality improvement plan based on self-evaluation and external benchmarks.

Bankside School is an independent specialist school near Hanley Castle, Worcester. Our new specialist school caters for young people aged 11-18 years old with Autism, Complex needs and learning disabilities.

For over 16 years, Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are Options Autism, part of Outcomes First Group, certified Great Place to Work for the past 2 years running and leaders within education and care.  For over 16 years we’ve been providing specialist care for adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs.

Our Post 16 college will be an independent specialist college, providing day and residential programmes to students aged 18-25 years with autism, complex needs and learning disabilities offering vocational training.  Based in 30 acres of beautiful surroundings, the college will accommodate 30 learners and will have a personalised approach for the students.  The college will be based close to one of our residential services, providing the opportunity to offer a package of support which includes residential education through utilising the available services across the group; thus ensuring the best possible outcomes for each individual.
