Job overview
Downe House is looking for an IT Technician to support aspects of IT service delivery for the school.
Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, your role will be responsible for the support of information technology services within the school. You will work closely with all school staff in order to implement strategic solutions and maintain the services required by the school. The IT Technician will lead the planning, development and execution of approved solutions and services and will contribute to the school technology direction.
Core operational functions requiring support include service desk management and escalation along with incident management, problem management, request fulfilment, access management, change management and knowledge management.
You will need to be a confident and effective communicator and be able to establish effective working relationships with all support teams and contacts throughout the school.
Ideally, you will hold a relevant degree or professional qualification in this field, along with a sound working knowledge of service delivery linked to business objectives.

About Downe House
Situated in the town of Thatcham, in Berkshire, Downe House is an independent secondary school for girls aged between 11 and 18. It is both a day and boarding school. There are around 580 students enrolled at the school, the majority of whom are boarders. Downe House School was established in 1907 in Charles Darwin’s formal home. It is located on 110 acres of land. There are 12 houses for those living on the campus. One of the houses is located in France where year eight students have the opportunity to spend a term.

The welfare of pupils is at the heart of all the work that is done and the systems that are in place to support this aim. The headmistress is the designated person in charge of child protection and works closely in this area with other members of the leadership team. Good attention is paid to overall health and safety matters supported by robust policies and comprehensive risk assessments.”
