Salary: Up to £51,200 per annum (DoE) 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

About the role

The school require an experienced and qualified teacher who has the ability to make a significant contribution to their school. This role is based in their Secondary Site, teaching Key Stage 3 classes consisting of pupils aged between 11 and 13, but they are happy to accept applications from candidates with QTS status, whether their experience is in Primary or Secondary Teaching. 

You will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupils’ achievement and ability to develop. The pupils may display some challenging behaviour due to their different needs, so staff are required to have experience.

Within this role, you will teach pupils in a fun and engaging way. You will also work with the support staff within the classroom to ensure that each pupil is getting the support they require, but also to ensure the smooth running of sessions and allow each pupil to have a positive learning environment. You will provide feedback to SLT, parents and carers.

Key Duties:

  • Responsible for KS3 Department, providing direct line management for all of the Key Stage 3 classes in the school. Responsible for working closely with SLT to review progress and outcomes for pupils
  • Responsible for working closely with SLT to review Quality of Education and monitoring the implementation of the specialist curriculum within the Key Stage
  • Responsible for overseeing pastoral and positive behaviour strategies & systems to improve engagement of learning 
  • Responsible for working collaboratively with the clinical team to ensure appropriate provision is in place to meet communication and sensory needs of the pupils within Key Stage 3
  • Responsible for monitoring attendance in lessons of pupils
  • Responsible for monitoring home school communications within the Key Stage. 
  • Responsible for escalating information to SLT to ensure appropriate management is in place for any pastoral or educational matters that arise within the department. 

For this role, you should:

  • Have previous experience teaching in an SEN school or extensive experience working with pupils with complex additional needs.
  • Have experience teaching and be able to plan fun and engaging sessions.
  • Have a UK QTS or QTLS – this is an essential qualification for the role

About the school

At the school, they provide specialist education for 185 pupils, aged between 3.5 and 19. Located across two sites. Their Secondary School supports around 125 pupils. Their pupils are taught in smaller class sizes and all pupils work towards a variety of qualifications dependent on their needs and ability.
