The school is happy to consider both full-time and part-time applications

Required for January or September 2025

Are you passionate about teaching and learning?

Do you want to develop your career in an outstanding school, working closely with colleagues who share that passion?

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional lead practitioner who can work collaboratively to drive further improvements in an already successful school. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for their subject and a commitment to supporting professional development.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of success and the ability to achieve the best outcomes for all students.

We are happy to consider:

  • teachers in the early stages of their career who have a track record of excellent GCSE and A-level results over at least two years with student outcomes that indicate they have the potential to become lead practitioners (TLR 2a);
  • experienced classroom practitioners with a track record of success who believe they have the skills and experience needed to become accredited lead practitioners (TLR 2b);
  • accredited lead practitioners able to play a key leadership role (TLR 2c with reduced teaching allocation).

Ruislip High School is an outstanding, oversubscribed, 11-18, mixed comprehensive school with 1300 students on roll and we have recently undergone an exciting phase of expansion, including a brand new sixth form centre.  We obtain excellent results. In the summer of 2024, 57% of students attained a grade 5 or above in English and Maths with 27% of students attaining a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in the Ebacc measure; at A Level, 53% of all grades were A* to B, with the majority  of Year 13 students securing places at their first choice of destination, including Russell Groups universities and prestigious apprenticeships.

Why work at Ruislip High School?

  • Students and staff treat each other with respect. They share high aspirations which are realised through high expectations of everyone.
  • The school has a comprehensive professional development programme tailored to individual needs, from ECT to middle and senior leadership; new staff are supported and guided by highly skilled and experienced colleagues, and by partners in external organisations.
  • Staff have a range of opportunities to collaborate and develop their career within the Vanguard Learning Trust.
  • Staff are afforded many benefits and rewards as part of the Vanguard Learning Trust’s entitlement package for staff.
  • There are excellent transport links with central London, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Berkshire.

In joining Ruislip High School you can expect to work in an environment that focuses on teachers improving, rather than proving, their practice; where teaching and learning is at the heart of everything we do; and where all staff work as a community to support our students to fulfil their potential in line with our school’s motto: from grass roots to reaching for the sky.
