Job overview

We are looking for a Learning Mentor with Cover Responsibilities to join us.

In this role, you will support teachers in ensuring that pupils engage more effectively with their learning and help increase levels of achievement through appropriate provision. You will also be required to cover PPA across the academy and work with both individual pupils and small groups. This is a great opportunity to combine mentoring skills whilst working in a supportive environment.

To be successful, you will:

  • Have experience of working with children with ASD
  • Be able to act as a role model, challenge and motivate, promote and reinforce self-esteem and establish productive working relationships with pupils
  • Have high expectations of and the ability to act in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and relevant legislation, particularly in relation to child protection and behaviour management
  • Be able to demonstrate a range of behaviour management strategies
  • Have the ability to engage constructively with and relate to a wide range of young people from different backgrounds
  • Possess excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Be well-organised, motivated and independent and have high expectations of yourself, always striving for the best

About us

Medeshamstede Academy is a special academy in Peterborough for pupils with autism. The age range is from 4 to 16 years, with a wide range of abilities. All pupils have autism, and some have SEMH and other complex needs.

The Academy is on a rapid improvement journey, and the new leadership team is working hard to ensure students receive the best education possible.
