The Role

We are seeking an outstanding individual to complement the professional work of teachers by supporting learning in the classroom by working with individuals and small groups, under the direction of the class teacher. To support children with learning and behaviour, and adapting work to suit them.


This post is 30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (term time only) and is fixed term until 31st August 2025.

 

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • To ensure that all policies implemented by the school are actively upheld and promoted at all times.
  • To build and maintain positive and constructive working relationships with pupils, families, multi-agencies, professionals and colleagues, to maximise pupils' development and maintain the overall ethos and vision of the school.
  • To work alongside the class teacher to deliver learning to support the academic achievement of all learners, through focused group learning, as directed by the class teacher.
  • To support the needs of the pupils and curriculum, by assisting the teacher with preparation of equipment, photocopying of material for use in learning and by providing general clerical support for class-based tasks.
  • To be committed to working with the staff team to ensure the highest levels of safeguarding are upheld at all times.

We're looking for you if you have:

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grace C or above.
  • Experience of working with a range of children.
  • Ability to interact positively with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Ability to supervise and organise pupils.
  • If you have experience or an interest in dogs (Monkwick Junior School have an onsite school dog, so we are welcoming all applications from people who may have experience or interests with dogs, though this is not essential).
