Cove School has a well-resourced SEND department which offers high quality provision to meet the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs. We also have a Resourced Provision Unit for Hearing Impaired (HI) pupils. We have a part time Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) and a Learning Support Assistant who works very closely with the TOD.

Cove School is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Learning Support Assistant/SEN Administration Assistant, who will be a crucial part of a pupil's educational journey, helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential. We require a dedicated individual who is passionate about providing the highest standards of care, support and education to our pupils. Someone with a can-do attitude and commitment to young people and the SEND team at Cove School.

Under our new SENCO, the team has undergone a complete transformation and it is an exciting time to be part of a dedicated, ambitious and talented group of people.

Key Responsibilities:

1)     Support for pupils

  • Work with and support pupils who have additional needs within the ‘broad areas of need’ as outlined in the SEN code of practice 2015; Communication and Interaction, Cognition and Learning, Social, emotional and mental health difficulties and Sensory and/or physical needs.
  • Help pupils to develop into independent learners to ensure they make good progress with their learning, as well as emotional well-being. 
  • Support pupils to access tasks and activities that they find challenging both inside the classroom.


2)     Support for teachers

  • Provide one-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist in implementing lesson plans and adapting materials.
  • Support and work with teacher in testing/assessment.
  • In conjunction with teacher, liaise with parents and pupil progress.

 

3)     SEN Administration support

  • Support the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) with administrative duties related to SEN students, including tracking progress, managing documentation, and maintaining records.
  • Coordinate meetings and communication with parents, external agencies, and other professionals.
  • Help with the preparation of reports, assessments, and other relevant documentation.
  • Ensure that all SEN-related paperwork is up to date, accurate, and compliant with relevant regulations and school policies.

Cove School is a larger than average 11-16 secondary co-educational establishment, located in the north of Hampshire. We are a local authority school within easy commute of London, the historic city of Winchester and the beautiful scenery of the New Forest.
