Golborne is a flourishing 11-16 secondary school that is proud to provide an exceptional education for the children of Golborne and Lowton. We are one of a very small number of comprehensive secondary schools in the North West to be awarded an Ofsted judgement of Outstanding (January 2023), and we are exceptionally proud of what this means for the pupils who attend our school and the staff who work here. As well as excellent GCSE results, that are well above the national average, pupils at Golborne receive a well-rounded curriculum and a wide range of opportunities for personal development beyond the classroom. We provide exceptional pastoral care for our pupils and a package of CPD for teaching and support staff that delivers opportunities for career development at all levels.
Under the leadership of a new headteacher, since January 2024, Golborne is excited to continue our journey to delivering a world-class education for our students and to become a beacon of excellence at the heart of the community. We are the lead school for Generate Teaching School and work together with our partners to deliver school to school support, exceptional CPD and early career framework structures.
Golborne High School is looking to appoint proactive and dynamic individuals who are passionate about the learning of pupils who have a special education need and/or disability. The school has seen significant investment in the school’s Inclusive Classroom which offers both pastoral and academic provision. The Learning Support Assistant role will work directly with the SENDCo and deliver a programme that supports our SEND pupils.
The successful applicant must have knowledge or experience of working with children in a relevant context and a commitment to supporting all pupils to thrive in an educational setting, no matter what their learning needs. Please read the job description and person specification for full details before applying.
We are in a position to appoint to this role as soon as possible, but the starting date will be negotiable for the right candidate. We will consider applications for part-time or flexible working, which should be outlined in the applicant’s letter.
An application form and further details of the post are available from the school website www.golbornehigh.wigan.sch.uk.
Closing date: Wednesday 25th September 2024 at 8am
Interview date: To be confirmed
Applications received ahead of this deadline may be invited to interview before the closing date.
Golborne High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post is covered by the Protection of Children Act and is therefore subject to enhanced DBS clearance.
It should be noted that it is a requirement of the Governors of Golborne High School that candidates should, whenever possible, name as referees current and former employers (via Heads or Principals where employment at educational institutions is concerned).
Shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online search. This is not part of the shortlisting process itself and the candidate will have the opportunity to address any issues of concern that come up during this search at interview.
We look forward to receiving your application should you be interested. If you have not heard from us by the interview date, you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer feedback on individual applications that are not shortlisted for interview.
