Job Description
- To tutor individual pupils who require learning support due to a specific learning difficulty.
- To tutor pupils using the programme trained in, using own resources or resources available at school. Tutoring should be structured and recommendations followed from reports received from professionals, such as Educational Psychologists, which must be read and adhered to.
- To record progress of pupil for inspection purposes, parent information and for own information.
- To prepare for these lessons, write IEPs, monitor progress, carry out assessments, when required.
- Liaise with teaching staff, specialist staff and the Learning Support Department
- Liaise with parents with professionalism and discretion.
- To write end of term reports for pupils tutored.
- To ensure the general welfare of pupils tutored.
- To communicate any health or safety issues of pupils to Pastoral Care coordinators.
- Duty to promote and safeguard the welfare of the boys.
Person Specification
- To be suitably qualified with a specialist qualification at Level 5 or above, received from an accredited institution such as; OCR, Dyslexia Institute, Dyslexia Action, Dyslexia Matters, British Dyslexia Association or Helen Arkell Centre.
- Preferably to be experienced in working in a school environment.
- To be able to tutor in a motivational, enjoyable and adaptable manner, ensuring the maximum potential for learning is used during a one to one lesson.
- Ability to inspire boys to feel confident and secure in their academic progress.
- Ability to offer high level and compassionate pastoral care.
- Ability to communicate with parents effectively.
- A well-developed sense of humour
- An understanding that, at its heart, prep school life should be fun.
- A good level of competency in the use of ICT with a view to ICT being used to enhance the boys’ learning
- Ability to enable boys to enjoy their learning
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to promote and safeguard the welfare of all the boys.
