The Creative Industries Department at Barnet & Southgate College is looking to recruit a passionate and experienced Music Production and Performance Teacher to lead and develop our Level 3 Music Course.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music production, performance, and education. Be able to plan and deliver high-quality classes that incorporate a range of effective learning strategies, inspiring and motivating students to achieve their full potential and prepare for careers in the music industry.

This role involves teaching students the fundamentals and advanced techniques of music production and performance, preparing them for successful careers in the music industry. You will have experience delivering the UAL Music curriculum, possess technical skills that align with industry standards, and have up-to-date knowledge and experience with current industry practices. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging curriculum for music product and performance courses
  • Teach students various aspects of music production including recording, mixing, mastering and using industry-standard software.
  • Instruct on performance techniques across different music genres
  • Foster a creative and supportive learning environment
  • Assess and evaluate students progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Organise and oversee student performances and productions
  • Stay updated with current trends and advancements in the music industry
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music production and performance in other areas of the arts.


You will need to be competent in the use of ILT to enhance learning both in and out of classes and have a strong understanding of the importance of integrating employability skills together with English and maths.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelors’ or Master’s degree in music production or related field. Teaching qualification such as a PGCE, DTLLS or Cert ED or be working towards. Previous teaching experience and industry experience are essential.
