Job overview

Durham High School is seeking a Marketing and Admissions Manager (£36k-£40k subject to experience) to develop and deliver an ambitious marketing and communications plan to increase pupil recruitment, strengthen the school’s reputation and provide the best possible admissions experience for prospective parents.

Situated on the outskirts of the historic cathedral city of Durham, we are proud that Durham High School is one of the leading independent schools in the North East for pupils aged 3 to 18.

Rated “Excellent” in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, Durham High School was one of the first schools in the North East to take girls education seriously. We are celebrating our 140 years anniversary this year and continue to build on our heritage as a modern-day school for girls, encouraging academic excellence and a life-long love of learning so that every girl can develop full potential for all areas of her life.

The Marketing and Admissions Manager is a varied role including managing all marketing activities, advertising, events, website, online and social media, newsletters, printing and literature, alongside all internal and external communications. As well as leading the admissions process, supported by a small admissions team, the role requires the ability to develop an understanding of the needs of current and prospective parents, and to identify strategies and initiatives which enable Durham High School to meet these needs.

Applicants should have minimum five years’ experience in a marketing role within an educational environment or similar and some experience of managing others as part of a small team. This is a demanding position in a busy school, providing an exciting challenge for candidates who thrive in playing a key role within an organisation, helping shape future success and happy to be “hands on” to get jobs done.

Suitable candidates should be excellent communicators, have the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally with all stakeholders and be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

This is a new and exciting opportunity - if you are interested in joining Durham High School in our next chapter and want to be part of a friendly, caring community, we would love to hear from you.

Please send a covering letter with your application (maximum 1 page) outlining reasons why you are suitable for the role and why you would be a good fit for our school community. Applicants are also to complete the application form. We will accept CVs, in addition to the application form.

Your application should be addressed for the attention of the Headmistress and sent by email to: enquiries@dhsfg.org.uk.

  • Closing date for applications: 9 am Tuesday 27 August 2024.
  • Interviews will be held week beginning 9 September 2024.

We reserve the right to change the closing date sooner than stated, subject to volume of applications.
