Job overview

Thank you for your interest in the post of Mental Health and Welfare Practitioner at Haberdashers’ Borough Academy.

We are a part of a Trust of nine schools, all based in South East London. Whilst each of our schools maintains its individuality, we share a common mission: to ensure that every single child and young person in our care is successful at school so that they can flourish and be successful in their lives.

We are steadfast in our continuing commitment to the trust’s statement of intent on Equality, Inclusion and Diversity and believe all our young people deserve to receive an excellent education, equitable opportunities and a value-added experience regardless of their background. We are proud of the diversity of our community and strive to ensure this is reflected in every aspect of school life.

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health and Welfare Practitioner who will, under the guidance of the senior leadership team and within the overall ethos of the school, undertake care and support the welfare of individual pupils.

Borough Academy’s Mental Health and Welfare Practitioner will work across the pastoral team to support students with a range of issues associated with their mental health. The post holder will both lead interventions for individuals and groups of students, working closely with the SEND, welfare, attendance and behaviour teams to identify students in need, and craft appropriate interventions. They will play an integral role in the weekly inclusion panel. Please download the recruitment pack for full details of the role.

The right candidate will join us here at Borough for October 2024.

Equality and Diversity:

We recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce. We are committed to eradicating discrimination in the workplace, becoming an employer of choice, for all staff to believe that they have a voice and be empowered to make a difference.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. This post falls within the scope of regulated activity. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS with list checks (and other relevant checks.) It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
