Secondary Teacher DP and MYP

JOB PURPOSE:

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching

  • Plan and lead inspiring lessons aligned with department unit planners and IB criteria.
  • Provide regular feedback on student progress per the school’s assessment policy.
  • Maintain student records on official platforms to track progress.
  • Prepare students for external examinations and support projects like the MYP Personal Projects and DP Extended Essays.
  • Participate in curriculum-based field trips and extracurricular activities, including NAE Global Campus.

Pastoral Care

  • Track attendance and report to the GLL team, SEN, EAL, and Counselling teams as needed.
  • Carry out duties such as breaktime supervision and ensure adherence to the school's Code of Conduct.
  • Support student wellbeing during daily Wellbeing Time and PSHE lessons.
  • Mentor students and assist with their transition into and out of ICS.

Parent Communications

  • Build trust with parents through timely reports, conferences, and informal updates.
  • Promote school practices and achievements through newsletters, yearbooks, and social media.

Learning Environment

  • Create positive classroom environments that encourage learning, innovation, and inclusion.
  • Ensure displays celebrate student success and support learning.
  • Address health, safety, and IT issues promptly.

Teamwork

  • Collaborate with the Head of Subject Group on planning and curriculum development.
  • Share teaching resources and support department meetings.
  • Participate in school initiatives such as NEASC accreditation and IBO review visits.

Professional Development

  • Engage in training to improve teaching practices and student impact.
  • Stay updated on IB curricula and teaching strategies.
  • Actively participate in NAE Performance Management and other professional growth opportunities.

Promoting School Culture

  • Exhibit responsibility, accountability, punctuality, and professionalism in all areas.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

Qualifications/Training:

  • QTS/PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification (Essential).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a humanities-related subject (Essential).
  • At least 2 years’ experience teaching A Level, AP, IB MYP, or IB DP (Essential).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (Essential).

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of IB curricula (Desirable).
  • Experience in an international setting (Desirable).
  • Demonstrable passion and detailed knowledge of subject areas (Essential).
  • Ability to adapt teaching styles for diverse student backgrounds (Essential).
