Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the school to provide operational support with overall responsibility for the management and leadership of all non-educational elements of Cameron Vale School.

This role will manage the administration and catering team; and oversee the regular and occasional contractors who provide services across the school. The Business/Operations Manager will be report daily to the Headmistress and work closely with the Group Operations, IT and Finance team to ensure effective and efficient running of the school.

Qualifications and Experience:

·      H&S Experience

·      Strong team player with leadership and motivational skills

·      Happy to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and get tasks done

·      Ability to build strong relationships quickly

·      Strong IT skills

·      Ability to lead and deliver change

·      Ability to write with accuracy and clarity

·      Ability to think strategically to support both the headmistress and wider Group Team in school development

Key Responsibilities

·      To work within the framework provided by the school’s policies and procedures to fulfil the general aims and objectives of the school and to carry out the roles outlines in their respective job descriptions to the highest level

·      To collate pupil and statistical data for monthly reporting to the Headmistress and Forfar Group

·      To manage the monthly payroll adjustments and submit to the Group Payroll Officer

·      To manage, with the Headmistress and the Group HR Director, staff salaries as required

·      To lead the Bursary process, liaising with parents and the Bursary Diligence contractor, providing recommendations to the Headmistress and Group Operations Director on the allocation of Bursary funds

·      To undertake ad hoc projects as directed by the Headmistress

·      To be a business partner for the Head

·      To lead on iSAMS management (MIS)

·      Support visitor management – including meeting and escorting as required

·      To lead on GDPR across the school

Management

·      To support the Headmistress and SLT in the recruitment of staff

·      To lead all safer recruiting and vetting checks required by new members of staff, third party suppliers or Agency staff as appropriate

·      To provide leadership and management of those contractors involved in outsourced estate maintenance, Health and Safety and cleaning contracts

Estate Management  

·      To have overall responsibility for delivering and managing the improvements, maintenance and cleaning of the school

·      To ensure the effective maintenance and security of the building

·      To oversee any capital development projects

·      To agree and oversee a rolling 5-year maintenance programme for the building, overseeing any work projects, ensuring timely on budget delivery  

Health and Safety

·      To maintain all H&S matters, policies, procedures and other issues reporting to the Headmistress and Group Operations Director

·      To manage and maintain the routine health, safety and compliance checks

·      To be the school lead for Every – ensuring all H&S and compliance checks are logged in accordance with the extant school and Group policies

·      To maintain and update the fire risk assessments and liaise with the fire prevention contractor

IT

·      To liaise with the Group IT Director and the outsourced IT services provider and act as onsite IT support and point of contact as required

·      In consultation with the Group IT Director co-ordinate the development, installation and maintenance of appropriate IT and telecommunications infrastructure for the school

·      Support the Headmistress and SLT with the development of IT in-line with Group and school digital education strategy and priorities
