Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate PARC Manager to lead and manage The PARC (Pride, Aspiration and Respect Centre), our new on-site alternative provision for our Key Stage 3 students. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of young learners who need additional support to thrive in mainstream education.

Students will spend one term in The PARC focusing on core subjects alongside bespoke interventions and enrichment activities designed to build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills. As The PARC Manager you will play a pivotal role in guiding these students on their journey towards success, embodying the values of Pride, Respect and Aspiration.

Job Description

This role is based in our onsite behaviour inclusion unit (The PARC). This provision will support our most vulnerable and challenging students.

Specific Responsibilities

Behaviour

  • Work with the wider student support team to identify students who need to access behaviour inclusion or external alternative provision support.
  • Work in and manage the timetable for the behaviour inclusion unit, overseeing all aspects of conduct, organisation, resources, staffing and curriculum.
  • Assess the individual needs of each student identified as needing behaviour inclusion support. Plan a bespoke support plan that meets their curriculum and behavioural needs with an aim to reintegrate into mainstream lessons or transfer to external alternative provision.
  • Source, plan, implement, resource and deliver behavioural support programmes/interventions for students in the behaviour inclusion unit and in the mainstream.
  • Support with transition work from KS2 for key individual students with behaviour support needs.
  • Provide mentoring support for identified groups of students and challenge and motivate students to promote self-esteem.
  • Assist with the school’s behaviour management processes where required.
  • To plan and undertake learning and behaviour walks around school to monitor specifically targeted groups that have been previously placed in the behaviour inclusion unit.
  • Build links with behaviour support programmes, activities and interventions that are accessible locally.

Curriculum

  • Liaise with teachers over subject specific work. Assist with individuals and small groups of students to further develop their literacy, numeracy, ICT and study skills. Ensure each student within the behaviour inclusion unit has maximum access to all learning activities and differentiate activities when necessary.
  • Use prepared curriculum resources, Microsoft Teams and the IT infrastructure to ensure students are provided with accurate and timely work based on their year group or Key Stage.
  • To undertake individual support for identified students through internal and external exams.
  • Plan bespoke timetables for each student accessing the behaviour inclusion unit and external alternative provision to ensure they are following an appropriate curriculum in line with their peers.

Leadership

  • Plan and support the re-integration of students back into mainstream lessons.
  • Plan and support with the re-integration of students returning from external alternative provision, suspensions or long-term absence when they return to school.
  • Support the school’s use of external alternative provision, liaising with external schools and organisations.

Communication and Administration

  • Keep accurate written records of each student’s bespoke timetable and re-integration plans.
  • Keep written records of children’s behavioural development and progress with their support programmes.
  • Report the progress (academic and behavioural) of students within the behaviour inclusion unit to SLT, Year Team Leaders, Form Tutors, class teachers, parents/carers and relevant external agencies as necessary.
  • Liaise with and provide support for staff about the needs of individual children.
  • Communicate frequently with parents/carers about the progress and engagement of each student.
  • Communicate frequently, using the school’s communication channels, to ensure all are aware of the students who are accessing the behaviour inclusion unit and their associated re-integration plans.
  • Liaise with relevant staff to provide specific information about each student on a re-integration plan to support successful re-integration back into mainstream lessons.
  • Contribute to records and documentation for students both internally and for external alternative provision.

Gospel Oak School, formerly the RSA Academy serves the borough of Sandwell, but due to its geographical position students join us from Wolverhampton and Walsall.  In 2017 the school joined the Central RSA Academies Trust and has been working closely and collaboratively across the trust to offer greater opportunities for all.  Over the last 5 years the trust has grown in size and strength, from September 2021 the trust is now an academy approved sponsor in its own right and the RSA will no longer sponsor the trust, although we will continue to work closely with the RSA.  This changing relationship has provided the trust and the school to rebrand ourselves, the trust will now be known as Central Region Schools Trust and the school; Gospel Oak School.

The rebrand for the school has allowed us to reflect on the true heritage of the local community.  The school is based in Gospel Oak and as a community we are very proud of our Black Country heritage, it is for this reason our new branding reflects the colours of the Black Country along with symbolic representation of the area, with the narrowboat which reflects the locality of the Gospel Oak canal basin, the oak tree for when the parish was so large the parishioners prayed under it once a month and the Black Country links to industry within the area.
