Job overview

The Governors of St John’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a Parent Support Advisor to work for 5 hours per week. As Parent Support Advisor (PSA), you will provide information and support to parents, establishing partnerships between the school and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for children in our community. 

This varied role will involve you working directly with parents and carers of students showing signs of social, emotional, health, behaviour and attendance issues. You will help to identify programmes for early intervention and preventative support that meets local needs and support families and will report in to the schools Leader of Inclusion.

You will:

·      work 1:1 with parents and carers

·      work proactively with different services in and beyond the school helping parents support their children, making the most of educational opportunities

·      promote parental involvement in school-based activities, such as parents’ evenings and family learning

·      support and engage parents and students with the transition into both primary and secondary schools.

You will need good people skills and be an excellent communicator. Experience of working with families and of the issues and challenges facing families and schools is essential.
