We are proud to belong to Pentland Field School; a community that works together to achieve the very best for our children.

Pentland Field School is an all-through school that meets the educational needs of around 170 children and young adults aged 4-19 with a range of learning disabilities, including those who may be autistic and those who have physical or sensory needs.

Staff at Pentland Field School are passionately committed to helping all pupils unlock their potential. We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (TA) who believes this matters too.

We make a difference to the pupils we work with by helping them make progress in all areas of life, become young adults who know their own value, and become active members of the communities in which they live. Pupils work in smaller classes (average 10 pupils). Pupils benefit from an onsite therapy team. TAs are assigned to classes, but are required to work flexibly across the school as directed, ensuring that all pupil needs are met.

We are looking for TAs who have a growth mindset, are enthusiastic about working with children with special needs, and who feel pride in working hard and completing work to a high standard. Previous experience of working with children or adults with special needs is an advantage – but a hunger and desire to work with our pupils and a willingness to learn from an experienced team is the most important thing we look for.

You will be joining a committed and hard-working team who are knowledgeable and compassionate. Staff at our school are ready to engage fully with all aspects of school life, supporting children in class, at playtime, with swimming, and other extra-curricular activities. This can include overnight stays or residential trips.

We can offer you:

  • A warm, friendly and approachable senior leadership team.
  • A committed and knowledgeable staff community who are willing to share their knowledge and skills with anyone who has a desire to learn.
  • A comprehensive induction programme for new staff, followed by access to continuous personal and professional development.
  • A comprehensive package of staff wellbeing support.
  • Teaching teams who work collaboratively.
  • A commitment to the wellbeing of staff and pupils, including staff led wellbeing initiatives, and free access to a staff wellbeing app offering a range of wellbeing and medical guidance and care.
  • Part of a dynamic special school multi-academy trust, with opportunities for career development.
  • Excellent transport links, by road or public transport. The nearest underground station is a 5 min walk from the school, and you can be in central London within 20 minutes.

If you would like to speak to us prior to making your application, please telephone 01895 806520.

You can find out more about our school here.

Closing date: Wednesday 6th November at 9am
