THE SCHOOL

A world-leading international, private day school for children aged 2 to 18 years old, our school in Shunyi, Beijing has an enviable reputation for its outstanding educational offer. Year after year, our students achieve first-class academic results and are accepted into top universities worldwide. We teach the Early Years Foundation Stage programme, English National curriculum, German Primary curriculum for native German speakers, IGCSEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. Our Class of 2024 graduates recently achieved an IBDP average score of 33 with 59% of students achieving A*-B at IGCSE, comfortably exceeding global averages.      

The school is housed in a purpose built campus with outstanding facilities in the Beijing suburb of Shunyi, some 20km from the city centre, which is much favoured by expatriate families. The area is very safe and has excellent facilities for teachers, whether coming alone or as a family.

THE ROLE

The Principal will inspire, lead, develop and manage all aspects of school life, including playing a key role in nurturing the values and culture of the school. Critical to their success will be the continued delivery of the school’s distinctive educational offer and unerring focus on achieving the very highest standards and building strong purposeful relationships within the community. 

The successful applicant will:

• Be an excellent communicator and compelling storyteller.
• Understand how to blend the best of premium education with contemporary international thinking to maintain a distinctive positioning for the school.
• Understand that leading learning is at the heart of school leadership and will build a team committed to delivering this.
• Drive the marketing and admissions process of the school with passion and a focus on quality that grows both pupil enrolment and the school’s reputation.
• Collaborate and build high performing teams, inspiring sustainable relationships.
• Engage with students, teachers, parents, and community leaders in a manner that is open, inclusive and conveys the values of NAE.
• Manage financial budgets and commercial aspects of the school with astuteness and engage with, and contribute successfully to the wider organisation.
• Demonstrate the ability to create and execute a strategic plan and manage complex projects.

In addition, the appointed candidate will also:

• Hold a recognised teaching qualification at least at Bachelor degree level.
• Demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Have direct experience of working with the EYFS, English National Curriculum, IGCSE and post 16 education with a sound knowledge of the IBDP.
• Bring experience of school leadership, preferably within a Principal role.
• Be comfortable managing growth and change.
