The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in education, social care, or similar to join KAA and make a huge difference.

We are looking for an experienced and committed safeguarding practitioner to join our pastoral team, working to support our students and families. Working closely with our Designated Safeguarding Lead (and wider safeguarding team), you will oversee the day to day running of safeguarding within the academy. You will be key to ensuring that all safeguarding matters are dealt with in a swift, efficient and appropriate manner, liaising regularly with our Directors of Learning and wider pastoral team.

The Safeguarding Officer must be a highly organised, dynamic and approachable individual who will deal with complex safeguarding issues in a calm, methodical manner. You will act as an advocate for our KAA community and will model compassion and empathy through practice. You will be an outstanding role model to our staff body and will proactively work to ensure that safeguarding practices at the academy go from strength to strength. You will support the school’s safeguarding and multi-agency work, developing and maintaining relationships with external agencies and partners as a main point of contact.

What KAA offers

The successful candidate will be joining a team that is firmly committed to making KAA one of the best academies in the UK. The value of being part of a great team should never be underestimated. Being a member of KAA means you will be joining a supportive and talented group of staff who will invest in your professional development. This role will be excellent preparation for your future career, wherever that may take you, and you will develop a range of transferable skills and competencies. Further information about the unique benefits and strengths of KAA can be found via our website (www.kaa.org.uk)

The role is being offered on a permanent / 42 week contract (term time plus 3 weeks).

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.

KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.

Why work for KAA?

Making a real difference

KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.

Unrivalled professional development

KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.

Being valued

We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.
