Reddish Vale High School are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, committed and ambitious Teacher of English, looking for the next step in their career, to join a very strong department within our school. The successful candidate will display a real passion for the teaching of their subject, with experience of teaching across KS3 and 4.
Reporting to the Head of Department for English, the Second in Department plays a key role in supporting with the leadership, management, and development of the English team. This includes teaching, curriculum planning, assessment, and ensuring that departmental goals align with the broader objectives of the school. The position requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a deep understanding of teaching English at various levels. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team. Your experience and expertise will be able to promote and encourage students to thrive in their English Language and Literature studies.
As Second in Department for English, you will:
• Help lead departmental meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring effective communication among staff.
• Lead or coordinate aspects of assessment and exam preparation, ensuring students are well-prepared for GCSEs or other relevant exams.
• Deliver engaging and challenging lessons to students of all abilities.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to enhance the learning experience.
• Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and ensure it is both relevant and inspiring. Skills and Qualities Required:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a teacher of English at Key Stage 3 and 4.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A passion for teaching and helping students achieve their potential.
• Knowledge of the curriculum.
• Strong analytical skills, particularly in relation to student performance data.
