We are looking to appoint an inspirational SENCo who shares our belief in the highest standards of academic attainment in a comprehensive setting and who has the drive and experience to help lead the school in its journey to outstanding. We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring SENCO to take a leading role in monitoring and regularly reviewing practice to ensure that the needs of all learners are met, in keeping with the inclusive culture of the school. You will be responsible for actively developing a cohesive team of staff within this faculty, who are able to work constructively together to deliver an appropriate curriculum for all key stages and to support the specific needs of our most vulnerable learners. You will lead on creating effective partnerships with a range of external agencies and professionals to ensure timely and expert support for students with identified needs. You will ensure that each learner supported by the department receives a broad, balanced and relevant programme of support, both within the department and in each subject area, through the provision of appropriately differentiated support and resources and in accordance with the aims and priorities of the school and the curricular policies determined by the Governing Body and Headteacher.

Oaklands is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in East London. It is a community state school as well as a NSS (National Support School] that provides support to other schools. A smaller than average secondary school, it will provide 850 places for secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 11-18, when fully subscribed.
With over 20 years’ worth of educational success, Oaklands has been a specialist school for science since 2003 and became a specialist modern foreign language school in 2008.
