Job overview

Oak Hill School is a small provision for pupils aged 11-16, all of whom have an EHCP in the category of Social, Emotional and Mental Health. We will have 50 pupils on roll in September and there is a planned expansion whereby the school will enrol up to 10 additional pupils who will be based in a self-contained area of the school building, which has been refurbished for this purpose.

We are looking for an inspirational SENDCO to join us from 1 November 2024. The SENDCO will be part of the school’s senior leadership and safeguarding teams.

Oak Hill School is a warm and welcoming school where the pastoral care is at the forefront of everything we do. We build close relationships with our pupils and their families and this gives us the bedrock from which we can work with our cohort to help them all achieve their potential and make their school days happy, fulfilling and purposeful. This nurturing environment is extended to our staff team where we pride ourselves on looking after our teachers and support staff in the same way as we do our pupils. We have a very low staff turnover, which we believe is a result of the happy and supportive ethos along which the school runs.

If you are interested in joining our school, we would love to hear from you. For further details and an application form please telephone Mrs Nicola Baker on 020 8361 4639 or email nicola.baker@apoakhill.org.uk

We welcome and strongly encourage visits to the school prior to application and/or interview.

For an application form and further details please contact the school.

Completed application forms should be returned to the school to Nicola.baker@apoakhill.org.uk

Closing date: Friday 27 September 2024

Interviews will be held w/c Monday 30 September 2024

Oak Hill School complies fully with the ethos of safer recruitment and will undertake all relevant safeguarding checks. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. References will be sought before interview. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information which would make them unsuitable for the position and will be subject to an online check.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Welcome from the Head of School.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Oak Hill School where boys and girls can find a nurturing, inclusive and vibrant setting in which to develop their social, creative and academic skills. We are relentless in our quest to understand the needs of our students so that we can deliver targeted pastoral support and teaching of behaviour to facilitate high quality learning experiences. We work with our partners to deliver a curriculum that is varied, stimulating and sympathetic to the different individual needs of our learners.

We celebrate our students’ successful transition into the next phase of their education or training and are committed to instilling community values that enable them to live healthy and fulfilling lives. We may only be one stage in their development but we want young people to look back at their time at Oak Hill as a period characterised by enjoyment, enrichment and inspirational learning.
