Can you make a difference to students finding mainstream challenging?

Slough and Eton is looking to relaunch our Shepherd Centre in January 2025 and as such we are looking for a qualified teacher to successfully lead and manage the Centre. The Shepherd Centre will offer a small group of our students, that have found learning in a large, mainstream secondary school challenging, time in a smaller setting on site. They have a personalised curriculum designed to help them be ready to reintegrate successfully back into the mainstream. The curriculum helps them to re-learn successful behaviours for learning whilst continuing to access the wider curriculum.

You would be expected to lead on all aspects of the Centre, including internal referrals, providing the lead on a personalised curriculum and planning the successful reintegration back into mainstream lessons and the school.

We are relentlessly focused on ensuring great teaching, learning and experiences are at the core of what we do in line with our mantra: Work Hard, Be Nice, No Excuses. We value experienced teachers joining our staff team as much as we do those new to the profession and encourage teachers at all stages of their career to apply. We also welcome applications from colleagues who may wish to explore flexible working arrangements.  Previous SEND experience would be a significant advantage.

Slough and Eton is a great school in Chalvey, Slough and is easily accessible via the M4/A4 and only a 20 minute walk from the Elizabeth Line at Slough train station.

If you are interested in finding out more then please do watch our video and read the welcome letter from our Headteacher. We encourage you to visit our school too. To arrange a visit please email vacancies@slougheton.com or phone us on 01753 520824 and ask to speak to our HR Manager.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to satisfactory references, Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and evidence of essential qualifications and proof of legal working in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

You can apply online via TES or you can apply via our application form that can be found on our school website. When applying please ensure that you address why you are applying for this particular role and why our school. Generic supporting statements are rarely shortlisted. Completed applications can be sent to Kirstin Sutherland, HR Manager at vacancies@slougheton.com. CVs alone will not be accepted as a valid application.

Closing date: Friday 18th October (9am)

We reserve the right to interview promising candidates prior to this date if applications are received early.

About Slough and Eton CE Business and Enterprise College

Slough and Eton is a great school and I am immensely proud to have joined it as Headteacher in September 2017.  Pupils and students at Slough and Eton are expected to work extremely hard and are encouraged to achieve their very best in all that they do.  As a result of their tremendous work ethic they achieve extremely well and we are very proud of them.  We believe in educating the whole child and as such place great importance on the many cultural experiences we provide for pupils and students as well as the academic ones.

As a Church of England school we welcome pupils from all faiths, foster a culture of tolerance and understanding throughout the school and are always delighted to show visitors the fantastic things that happen here.  We have a thriving and growing Sixth Form and enjoy using excellent facilities.  If you are interested in finding out more about our school then please do come and visit us.  I would be delighted to show you around, along with some pupils and give you the opportunity to talk informally with some staff about what it is like to work at the school.

Mr Peter Collins
