International Community Schools Abu Dhabi is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment that promotes the well-being and academic success of our students. The Social Worker will be responsible for addressing students' emotional, social, and behavioral needs while working collaboratively with school staff, families, and community resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support:

  • Counseling and Guidance: Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional or behavioral issues, including anxiety, depression, family challenges, and peer conflicts. Develop and implement effective intervention strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Crisis Intervention: Act swiftly and effectively in crisis situations, including instances of abuse, bullying, or mental health emergencies. Coordinate with relevant school and community resources to ensure students receive timely support.
  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' needs and collaborate with students, families, and school staff to create and monitor personalized intervention plans.
  • Emotional and Behavioral Support: Assist students in developing coping skills, improving social interactions, and managing emotions to enhance their overall well-being and academic performance.

Family and Community Engagement:

  • Family Liaison: Work closely with families to address factors impacting students' academic and emotional development. Provide guidance on accessing resources, navigating school systems, and enhancing family-school partnerships.
  • Community Integration: Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, social services, and mental health professionals to support students and families effectively.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • School Collaboration: Partner with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to identify students in need of support and implement appropriate strategies. Participate in school meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding student welfare and academic progress.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated with best practices in social work, counseling, and student support.

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Preventive Programs: Design and implement school-wide programs and workshops focused on social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and mental health awareness. Evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Policy and Procedure: Contribute to the development and review of school policies related to student welfare, discipline, and mental health. Ensure that policies align with best practices and support the well-being of students.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Certification: Relevant social work certification or licensure, as required by local regulations.
  • Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience in a school setting or related environment, with a focus on counseling and student support.
  • Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
