Job overview
Wellington School is seeking an enthusiastic individual to come and experience life within a busy and thriving day and boarding school situated in the market town of Wellington in Somerset.
Starting in October 2024, the Spanish Language Assistant will play an important role within the Modern Foreign Languages Department supporting Teaching Staff and Students. Working alongside a French and German Language Assistant, the successful candidate will be a fluent Spanish first language speaker, who has a willingness to engage with students and help them to improve their language skills. Working in close collaboration with teachers - in or outside the classroom - in small breakout groups, or one to one, the Assistants play a vital role in developing students’ confidence and oral skills in this subject.
We are above all looking for individuals who can create and nurture outstanding working relationships with pupils aged 11 to 18 and who will become, for many pupils, role models for what it means to learn - and work with - languages.
The role can be residential with accommodation and meals provided. Although this is not an essential criteria of the role, such an opportunity can provide the chance to live alongside the Boarding Staff and experience all that the school has to offer. The amount of time spent in the MFL department will vary for each Assistant depending on pupil numbers and need, therefore applicants should have an active interest in working in education and potentially immersing themselves in the wider life of the school (e.g. sport, drama, music, trips etc.)
Successful applicants must be committed to safeguarding and will be subject to an enhanced DBS and Child protection checks. We are an equal opportunities employer.
