The role
We are looking for a well-qualified Study Skills Mentor to provide essential support to independent learning at Southport College and King George V College.
As a Study Skills Mentor, you will play a key role in the smooth running of our Study Hub. The Study Hub offers a comprehensive range of learning resources, including books, magazines, and journals. Students and staff are able to utilise these spaces to facilitate learning and access support to improve their digital and academic study, as well as to complete assignments and prepare for exams.
Based in the Study Hub, you will facilitate student learning by guiding, advising, informing and demonstrating a wide range of digital and study skills. You will help students and staff to access, retrieve and use relevant learning materials, by delivering tailored study and digital skills sessions to groups and individuals. You will also research and promote interactive teaching and learning resources for students and staff to use to support their learning and development.
About you
You will be a personable individual, who can demonstrate a proven ability to facilitate learning effectively. You will possess a good understanding of study skills and the ability to help staff and students access resources including Microsoft Office, web-based media, Teams and other interactive resources. Possession of an ICT (or digital / media technologies) qualification at Level 3 is essential, along with experience of supporting learners.
