Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Teacher of Design & Technology to join a High School based in Camden.

If you are a hard-working DT teacher with practical and technical skills training, then they have an exciting opportunity for you within their thriving Design and Engineering department.

The High School is renowned for their Design and Engineering facilities, as well as their academic and extra-curricular achievements. As a Teacher of DT, you will make a key contribution to the success of the department, by delivering engaging DT lessons to highly motivated and talented pupils from Year 7 to 13, equipping them with skills, experience and knowledge that empowers them to solve problems and design solutions.

There will also be further opportunities for you to offer your extensive skills and enthusiasm to other departments across the school.

About you

You will be a highly motivated and well-qualified individual, with appropriate practical and technical skills training, as well as Health & Safety DT certification (training can be organised for H&S certificates). This role would suit a qualified teacher, with a proven track record, however, they also welcome applications from ECTs and well-qualified graduates looking to begin a career in teaching.

The Design & Engineering Department

The department is situated in a modern, purpose-built school, with a workstation for each teacher. The multi-use studio is fully computerised with widescreen PCs, an interactive whiteboard and an A2 laser cutter. This room also houses three 3D printers as well as a small-scale manufacturing area.

The Textile studio, shared with the art department, contains a Digital Rowland Cutter, a sublimation printer, and a heat press. Finally, the DE workshop is used mainly for 3D practical assignments using wood, plastics, and limited metal work. It comprises a general work area with machinery and workbenches, a studio area for designing and an additional laser cutter.

About the School

Working at the school is stimulating, challenging and fun. Located in leafy Hampstead, with the buzz of central London’s cultural life close at hand, the School is very well served by public transport and there are excellent local amenities nearby.

They offer a variety of benefits, such as:

  • Competitive salaries and pay progression
  • Access to extensive professional development opportunities
  • Training grants for qualifications
  • Generous pension schemes
  • Free life assurance benefit
  • Interest free loans for training, computer purchase loans and travel season ticket loans
  • A Cycle to Work scheme
  • Competitive terms and conditions of employment
  • A discount of up to 50% on fees for children

Interviews will take place the week commencing 13th January 2025.
