Job overview

Teacher of Design & Technology

We are looking to recruit a Teacher of Design & Technology to join us from January 2025. The post holder would ideally be a Product Design specialist but other specialisms could be considered. The ability to teach a second Design and Technology subject would be an advantage.

Beaumont Leys School is a highly successful 11-16 school consistently rated as Good by Ofsted, most recently in March 2020. We are very proud of the progress our students make, and the destinations that our students go on to; many of our students have challenging backgrounds and low prior attainment on intake and so we are the beacon of hope for their futures. We believe that a high quality education leads not only to transformative exam results for students, but also in great character development. We want students to feel that they belong in our school and develop their sense of self-worth alongside an understanding of the positive impact they can have on those around them.

Together We Achieve Success is our motto and the driving force for our school. Our students thrive because our staff are dedicated to students’ success; to building positive relationships; and to collaborating and working as a team within a supportive environment. We are a school with a heart and soul, and we believe our job is to give our students the best possible chances in life, creating some fantastic lifelong memories along the way.

Over the years we have seen a continuing rise in student performance, with improved results at GCSE which have been above the national average. We believe in ‘going the extra mile’ to help support students and staff. We want to employ teachers with the skills and determination to help us to continue to make a positive difference to what we and our students can achieve.

Design and Technology is a popular and successful subject at our school. Our Design and Technology Faculty offers a broad curriculum at KS3 and 4. Students in KS4 have the choice of GCSE Product Design, Food and Nutrition and Textiles. The faculty is housed in 4 purpose built rooms alongside associated facilities and also has technician support across all subjects. Students enjoy their technology lessons and develop very good practical skills and a love of working creatively.

We work hard to recruit the best and then we support them to be even better. Our internal promotion record is impressive, even our Head Teacher started with us as an NQT. We engage extensively with local ITT providers, including Teach First and Researchers into School, and provide an excellent ECF support programme and a strong and well-evaluated programme of professional learning. Our teachers are always learners and as such role model everything we want for our students. Therefore, if you want a forward thinking, dynamic school to take your career to the next level, we would welcome your application.

We are committed to keeping children and young people safe from harm and abuse and to promoting their welfare, and we expect that everyone who comes to work for us will share the same commitment.

All roles within the school are covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Full details and an application form are available from the school website

Closing Date: Monday 14th October 2024

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 16th October 2024

We have high aspirations and ambitions for our students and are constantly looking for ways of promoting their achievements within the community. Our motto is 'Together We Achieve Success'.

The school cannot be successful without students, staff and parents working together. As headteacher I see it as my responsibility to ensure that the school continues to develop and improve in a positive climate, which acknowledges and recognises everybody's hard work, staff and students, and in an environment where people are supported and enabled to develop their skills, abilities and talents.
