Boston Spa Academy is seeking to recruit an inspirational colleague to the role of Teacher of Mathematics. This role is of great importance to our work as an Academy in ensuring that children can achieve their full educational potential in mathematics. It is an attractive opportunity for any candidate wishing to support our teaching of mathematics at GCSE, and also A Level, at an Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ provision.
The ideal applicant will have:
- A good honours degree related to mathematics and qualified teacher status.
- Successful record of teaching Mathematics including very good exam results at GCSE and/or A Level.
- Detailed knowledge of current developments in education including the use of the Pupil Premium.
- A passion for education and making a difference.

About us:
The mathematics department at Boston Spa Academy has an excellent track record of academic success. In the past two academic years, Progress 8 measures for the subject at GCSE were +0.97 and +1.07, placing the department as one of the highest performing in the country. This is further supplemented by our thriving A Level provision, in which Mathematics and Further Mathematics have large numbers of students who achieve exceptionally well. The team consists of 12 teachers, with a Director of Maths, Deputy Director of Maths, and three Assistant Leaders of Maths. With an increased number of students opting to study A Level Maths and Further Maths, we are seeking a candidate who has a passion for mathematics and an ability to teach the subject at KS4 and KS5, as well as teaching across KS3.
At Boston Spa Academy, we are proud that, in our recent Ofsted inspection graded “Outstanding”, it was commented that ‘staff feel valued and are proud to be members of the school’. The report also recognises that ‘leaders are highly supportive’ and ‘proactively seek to manage workload and support the well-being of staff’. Boston Spa Academy in Boston Spa, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, is a mixed, secondary school for children aged 11-18. The school, which opened in 1973, has around 1,430 students of which 190 attend the growing sixth form.
