Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a temporary Classroom Music Teacher to teach curriculum music lessons from Y2 to Y9 and also to lead ensembles. Full time or part time hours can be accommodated. We are looking for someone who embodies passion, expertise, and the drive to inspire young minds.

This is a temporary position to cover staff absence probably until at least Christmas. We are looking to appoint as soon as possible and will therefore consider applications as they arrive. Interested applicants are advised to submit their form as soon as possible, and the vacancy may close before the date advertised.

This pivotal role aims to attract an individual who possesses a profound understanding of music's role in education and personal development, coupled with the skills and enthusiasm to lead by example alongside the essential skill of playing the piano. The ability to accompany students on the piano during classes, rehearsals, and performances is a critical aspect of the job, serving as a foundation for our dynamic music programme.

The ideal candidate will be someone looking to grow their career, taking on responsibilities that stretch beyond the classroom to include contributing strategically to the development of our music department and its offerings.

All staff are fully supported in their professional development.

A full job description can be found below.

Successful candidates will be invited to a formal interview and will be observed teaching a prepared lesson. There will also be an opportunity to tour the School on the day.

Applications, addressed to Mrs Clare Macro (Headmistress), should include a completed school application form and a covering letter of not more than 2 pages summarising your suitability for the role as outlined in the information pack.

Please submit these to the HR & Compliance Officer, Ms Corinna Gregory: recruitment@edgbastonhigh.co.uk

CVs may be submitted as well but must be accompanied by an application form.

To comply with KCSIE Edgbaston High School for Girls is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, online checks and Disclosure and Barring Services.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children."

Edgbaston High School is an equal opportunities employer.
