Akademeia High School is an academically-selective school in Warsaw, offering IGCSEs and A Levels alongside Akademeia Assessed Courses. About the job

You will have a chance to work with some of the most intellectually curious young minds and have the chance to inspire them through stimulating and creative lessons in small classes of up to 12 students.

You will collaborate closely at both the subject and departmental levels, working on curriculum planning, specification delivery, and broader initiatives. Your role will involve teaching Psychology and RSHE to students aged 14-18.

As a member of our Human and Social Sciences Department, you will collaborate with experienced professionals who value teamwork and the interdisciplinary nature of social sciences. Our commitment to student-cantered approach fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which prepares students for academic success and lifelong learning. The department consistently achieves outstanding results in external exams at both IGCSE and A Level. In recent years, our students have been awarded Pearson Learner Awards in categories such as the Highest Mark in the world in the International A Level in Economics and the highest mark in Poland in the International GCSE in History and Geography. Many of our students go on to study at prestigious universities, such as LSE, University of Cambridge, LSE, MIT, Yale University. Many receive scholarships to continue their studies at top universities worldwide.

You will be joining a dedicated team of enthusiastic teachers, who regularly collaborate and share resources and strategies for engaging our students. We offer frequent CPD workshops and departmental meetings; we also embrace diverse teaching styles and actively support peer-to-peer learning through lesson observations and constructive feedback Beyond academic successes, and professional collaboration, our department nurtures a strong sense of community, and we occasionally spend time together outside of school to strengthen team spirit.

The full-time teaching commitment is 20 hours of instruction per week with generous time allowances built into the timetable to facilitate effective preparation, marking, and report writing. Teachers are expected to either be involved in pastoral care (tutoring of a small group) or supporting student clubs and co-curricular activities. The regular school week is from Monday to Friday, with occasional school events happening on weekends (e.g. open days, school trips) that teachers may be required to attend.

Extracurricular activities, such as afternoon clubs, supervision of Personal Development Projects and trips are paid additionally in line with the school’s extracurricular points system. 

About you:

We are looking for professionals demonstrably committed to pursuing a career in education. The successful candidate will be able to both inspire and widen students’ interests in their subject as well as effectively guide them in exam preparation.

Educational Qualifications

● A Bachelor’s degree or higher in in Psychology or a related field.

Experience

● Teaching experience specifically in A Levels or International Baccalaureate

● Thorough knowledge of the subject curricula - A Level, IGCSE

● Involvement in extra-curricular activities: professional, amateur, or voluntary

● Experience managing and leading groups of students/young people

● High level of IT literacy

About Akademeia High School


Akademeia High School is an international, academically-selective school in Warsaw,  offering A Levels and GCSEs. We are an accredited UCAS centre and Edexcel (Pearson) and AQA examination centre for the English GCE Advanced Levels. We have also prepared a special intensive SAT/ACT exam course for students who are interested in applying to American universities.

We offer IGCSEs and A Levels alongside Akademeia Assessed Courses, which supplement and go beyond the prescribed UK Examination Boards’ curricula. In years 10 and 11 students take interdisciplinary Akademeia Assessed Courses and iGCSEs subjects.

All students at Akademeia High School work towards A Level exams, giving them the opportunity to build their own academic profile from the wide variety of subjects on offer.
