We are looking to appoint an ambitious Teacher of Science for the above position from April 2025 or sooner. The candidate should be an excellent classroom practitioner and keen to make a difference to children. This is an exciting time to join the school as we build on recent success and continue our drive to raise standards. This would be an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified teacher or an experienced teacher who is looking for a change.

 

The successful candidate will teach to at least GCSE and will be:

 

·        An innovative practitioner

·        Focussed on the development of a stimulating curriculum

·        Highly motivated with well-developed interpersonal skills to support the motivation of colleagues and the student community

·        Committed to learning and the raising of standards

 

St John Fisher is an 11-18 comprehensive school with a rich Catholic ethos. There are 800 students on roll including the Sixth Form. The school has excellent facilities and well-equipped rooms. The school was judged Good by Ofsted in October 2013, November 2017 and June 2023. It was also judged Outstanding by the Diocese in December 2013, 2018 and again in March 2022. Visits to the school are welcome.

About St John Fisher Catholic High School

St John Fisher Catholic High School is a co-educational voluntary aided school based in Peterborough for students aged 11-18. It is a Roman Catholic school.

The school has a vertical tutoring system, meaning tutor groups consist of a mixture of students from Year 7 to Year 13. There are 32 tutor groups with an average number of 20 to 25 students in each group.

The school’s sports facilities include a floodlit pitch, tennis and netball courts and a sports hall. The school also has a strong tradition in music, both vocal and instrumental, and has several rooms where students can practice.

St John Fisher Catholic High School firmly believes that celebrating students’ achievement motivates them to achieve their potential, both inside and outside the classroom. Consequently, the school’s merit system has been reviewed and updated and students who perform to a high standard throughout the year will be given the opportunity for a reward visit to a theme park. The school’s house system is also intended to provide a community spirit for the students and competitive events.
