Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Science to join our fantastic Science Team!

We are starting the academic year as a new, bigger team, looking for an additional team member to join us on this new exciting journey whilst working together to deliver the best education for our students.

We have a brand new school building which opened at the start of September 2024 to our students.

Our new Science department takes up the full length of the top floor in the new building which consists of 7 new labs, 2 of which are fitted with state of the art portable fume cupboards. A brand new prep room, filled with new equipment including a fully secure chemical store. We also store and maintain radio active sources.

Newhouse Academy delivers combined Science up to GCSE level, and we run a KS3 Science club as extra curricular.

We are part of the Rochdale Science Network, working in partnership with other high schools across the borough.

It is important that you are a team player and understand how important our values are to us. This has helped Newhouse Academy to become one of the most improved academies in the country.

Newhouse Academy strives for ‘high expectations in all that we do’ and the successful candidate will be committed to helping us achieve this.

As part of our drive to increase wellbeing, teaching staff receive a higher than 10% non teaching time on their timetable. There is dedicated CPD time each week, staff are then given time to work on implementing this into their lessons.

It has been widely published that the DfE indicate that for September 2025 pay decisions, performance related pay will not be part of the School Teachers Pay and Conditions. Hollingworth Learning trust met with leaders to review whether we would like to implement this sooner and our view as a school and a trust was that we would like to implement this for September 2024, rather than wait an additional academic year.

"Hollingworth Learning Trust recognise and value the contribution of all of our staff and feel that all staff's efforts should be rewarded in order to have a positive impact on teaching and learning."

In return, we offer:

  • Membership of the Teachers’ Pension scheme
  • Funded CPD for nationally recognised qualifications
  • An optional package of health benefits from Medicash
  • Free use of a brand new gym
  • Staff activities, including a Wellbeing Café
  • Free staff car parking

This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark at an academy that started its improvement journey in 2020. We believe in providing a high quality education for students and are committed to the continuous professional development of staff.

If you have a strong character, energy, credibility and the ability to inspire; if you can motivate and challenge others; we’d love you to join us in taking this journey.

If you are interested in joining our team and the exciting journey we are on we would love to hear from you. We actively welcome you to come and meet the team and have a tour of the Academy too. recruitment@newhouseacademy.co.uk.
