Become a Teaching Apprentice and Ignite Your Teaching Career

Join us on a fixed-term apprentice contract, commencing 27 August 2025, to teach Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference in the lives of students?

We can offer you a unique opportunity to kickstart your journey towards becoming a skilled and inspiring educator. At Latymer Upper School, we are committed to fostering the next generation of exceptional teachers, providing aspiring educators with hands-on experience, mentorship, and the tools needed to excel in the classroom.

Why Choose Our Teaching Apprentice Programme?

We are offering the opportunity to gain real classroom experience whilst receiving guidance and support from professionals dedicated to helping you develop your teaching skills. You will have the opportunity to gain QTS via the apprenticeship route alongside hands on practical teaching experience in the classroom. As a salaried route into teaching, the Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship programme is a nationally-recognised, work-based route into teaching; offering a postgraduate-level qualification, no tuition fees, and the opportunity to earn while you learn.

Professional Development

We will provide you with access to workshops, training, and resources to enhance your pedagogical knowledge.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals with exceptional subject knowledge, committed to education, eager to learn, and ready to inspire and enthuse highly academic young people to develop a sense of curiosity and love of learning. For additional eligibility criteria, please see the candidate brief.

Acknowledging a lack of ethnic diversity within our teaching staff, we particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates. All appointments will be made on merit, following a fair and transparent process. In line with the Equality Act 2010, however, the School may employ positive action where diverse candidates can demonstrate their ability to perform the role equally well.

Whether you're a recent graduate, looking to change your career, or simply passionate about teaching, we would encourage you to apply.

To apply, and find out more about the school and our attractive staff benefits package, please visit our website and view the section “Join our Team”.

Closing date: 9am on 31 January 2025.

From 6 January 2025, when term resumes, we will review submitted applications and suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date. We reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made, therefore early applications are encouraged.

Diversity – The School is fully committed to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion. We have an established and representative staff Equality and Diversity Board to help drive forward positive change. A further Equality and Diversity Committee has recently been formed from our student population.

We are committed to attracting and retaining the very best staff, ensuring that our staff body reflects the diversity of our students and local community. Welcome to Latymer Upper School. We are a vibrant, forward-thinking and co-educational independent secondary school in West London. Established in 1624 by the generosity of Edward Latymer and located in Hammersmith since 1895, the School upholds its founding principles of generosity and educational excellence.

With around 1,400 students, the success of our Inspiring Minds campaign started by the Latymer Foundation in 2017, means that by the end of our 400th year, we will be in a position to offer one in four students a bursary.

Latymer Upper School is at the forefront of education reform and from 2027, our bespoke Middle School curriculum will replace traditional GCSEs. This innovative approach will develop critical thinking, resilience, collaboration, creativity and problem-solving, preparing them for the independent learning required at A-level. Our students go on to secure places at prestigious universities including Oxbridge, North American and European institutions and are well set for success in the modern workplace.

We foster a welcoming and cosmopolitan environment and our commitment to individualised education ensures that Latymerians are not only highly academic but also well-rounded, grounded individuals.

We are also really proud to have teachers who help raise generations of young people to be passionate about their learning, students who support each other and a network of loyal Latymerian alumni.

To find out more about our School and our ambitions for Curriculum Reform, please visit our website and consider joining a community dedicated to inspiring minds and transforming lives.
