Kinson Academy is a 420 PAN- pupil school which currently has 203 students. Kinson Academy joined Ambitions Academy Trust in 2019 and educates Boys and Girls aged between 4 and 11. Kinson Academy was rated Good by OFSTED in May 2022.

Kinson Academy has the special status of being Bournemouth’s oldest school. It was established in 1836 and moved to its current position in School Lane in 1936.  It is very much a community school with many parents and grandparents being able to relate their own memories of the school.  We have a lively and involved staff who ensure a broad, balanced and exciting education for every child.

We are fortunate in having an attractive school environment with large grassy areas, as well as hard surface playgrounds that give children large wet and dry weather play areas. We have a garden and outdoor stage in our garden/eco-classroom. Our PSFA (Parents, Staff and Friends Association) fundraise with great success. They have provided many items, including lots of playground, sports and musical equipment.

The school actively encourages links with the local community; visits have included local business people speaking about their particular skills, Kinson Common Wardens, local dance and drama groups, local Police Community Support Officers etc.

Our Vision.

High Expectations lead to High Achievers’

We are an outstanding, values-based school at the heart of our community, striving for excellence, enabling our children to achieve their highest potential in all areas of the curriculum.

Our vision is to create a school community where children participate, succeed and are proud of their achievements. We strive to actively promote British values and prepare our children to become role models, thus preparing them for life in modern Britain.

“Everyone is a learner and every experience is a learning opportunity.”

Kinson Academy has three key objectives:

· Ensure all pupils and young peoples’ achievement is their very best.

· Improving schools by outstanding leadership

· Achieving “operational economies” across Ambitions Academies Trust in terms of “value for money” and organisational resilience.

Kinson Academy work on the principal that:

“………… the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers.”

Sir Michael Barber

Our Ethos.

Kinson Academy (KA) demands high expectations for all. In everything KA does we always refer back to our mantra that encapsulates the belief that KA must have outstanding teaching and achievement.

A culture of high expectation leads to the highest achievers as we all thrive to better ourselves. Children and staff are challenged and supported to get the best possible outcomes. Children, with the support of their teacher, set themselves goals and targets which they then challenge themselves to meet.
