About the role
Your responsibility will be to set the strategic academic direction for the school, in conjunction with the Head, and to ensure excellent, innovative standards of teaching and learning are achieved across all academic departments. The role requires the ability to grasp the bigger picture and the tiniest detail at the same time, and to command the respect of staff, pupils, parents, and Governors.
This is a permanent, full time position. 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
Under the overall direction of the Principal play a lead role:
- In formulating the aims, objectives of the schools and establishing the policies through which they are to be achieved
- Be responsible for the standards and curriculum of all pupils including monitoring of progress towards achievement
- Play a leading role in the school improvement and school self-evaluation planning process
- In partnership with the Headteacher manage school resources
- Devise, implement and monitor action plans and other policy developments
- Lead by example to motivate and work with others
- Take full responsibility for the school in the absence of the Headteacher
- Carry out the professional duties of a teacher as required
- Take responsibility for child protection issues as appropriate
- Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
- Be responsible for lunchtimes, including the lunchtime supervisors on a daily basis. Sharing lunchtime duties with the Headteacher

Who we are looking for

- The ideal candidate will:
- be able to communicate clearly, understand and follow instructions.
- be able to talk to students and adults in a clear and calm manner
The ideal candidate will have:
- a professional qualification relating to childcare or child education
- relevant work experience in an educational setting
- significant experience of interacting with children and families
- the ability to work on own initiative
- excellent organisational skills and ability to maintain an organised and professional working environment
- the ability to maintain accurate written/electronic records and produce concise and informative report
