Selby High School is looking to appoint a Year Manager to join our pastoral team in our thriving and successful school. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking person with significant pastoral experience to join our team.

Between January and June, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support a variety of year groups, developing their understanding of the school’s pastoral systems, before taking full responsibility for a year group in the summer term.

The successful candidate will have:

●       Experience of working in a school, or other setting, in a pastoral capacity.

●       The ability to form excellent relationships with students and their families, from a wide range of backgrounds, especially the most disadvantaged.

●       A proven track record in supporting young people, for example improving behaviour and/or attendance.

●       Extensive knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, and the willingness to undertake training to continue to develop in this area.

●       Resilience and a sense of humour, and an unwavering belief that excellent pastoral support can make a significant difference to the outcomes and life chances in young people.

In return we offer:

●       The opportunity to work as part of an experienced, high quality, pastoral team.

●       A fantastic school community with dedicated teachers and support staff and great students.

●       A supportive and caring environment, in which you will be able to develop your career.

●       An outstanding training and development programme.

If you are interested in this role, and feel that you have the wide range of personal skills and qualities that will be required to carry it out successfully, then we look forward to hearing from you.

We are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse community and aim to have a workforce reflecting this diversity. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We have a robust child protection policy and all staff will receive training relevant to their role at induction and throughout employment at the school. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to satisfactory references and enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records check for work with children. An online search may be undertaken for shortlisted candidates as part of the recruitment process on information available in the public domain. Candidates should disclose anything that may be relevant in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
